A couple of weeks ago my Grandma passed away. I was raised in Georgia and always far away from relatives although when I moved to Cedar City to go to Nursing school, my relationship with my Grandparents grew leaps and bounds. I didn’t realize how precious those moments were until now. Whenever anyone would leave the house after visiting them my Grandma would run, more like waddle she was 90 after all, to the front door and flick the front porch lights on and off as you backed out of the driveway. She did this to remind you of two things, that she loved you, and that she would pray that you returned to her soon.
A few members of my family were all crouched around her little body during her last moments on this earth as my Grandpa told stories of their courtship, which were priceless. As he finished she picked her head up off the pillow and opened her eyes to look at him. We all just gasped because in the week before her passing, she did not have the strength to do such things. He reached for her and told her he loved her and soon after she was gone. What an amazing scene. I will never forget the love they had for each other or the lessons she taught me. As the mortuary was carrying her body to their vehicle my Grandpa suggested we flick the lights for her so that she would know we loved her and would be praying that we would be worthy enough to see her once more. I'm telling you, the tears were rolling. We are so happy for her though...She's finally graduated and is now beyond the realm of pain she felt everyday of her life here on this earth.

THE CYCLE OF LIFE. Moments before her passing my sister and I nursed our babies as my Grandpa sat lovingly at her bedside.

MOTHERS BEWARE. My Grandma has always dyed her hair red. When my mom was just 3 months old, she dyed her hair red too and to this day, we don't know what either of their natural hair color is. Needless to say, my Grandma LOVED to go to the salon and look beautiful but during the last week of her life she was too weak to go anywhere. So we called over her hair stylist and brought the salon to her. Unfortunately for me, there was some red dye left over and Ava got a treatment as well. Nobody's safe anymore!
